McNally International Inc.

A Depth of Knowledge

McNally International Inc. and its group of companies had its start in 1949, under the name S. McNally & Sons Limited. Post-war house building was the main activity in the early years but soon changed to heavy civil engineering projects.

Joseph McNally led the growth of the company during the 1950's and 1960's, sucessfully completing numerous major projects, including: construction of Ashbridges Bay Wastewater Treatment Facility; the Yonge St. Subway in Toronto; and construction of the Bruce Nuclear Water Intake.

Over the years the company has been involved in various types of projects, ranging from conventional bid, design build, design build finance, and negotiated contracts.  McNally has become synonymous with difficult and demanding projects; numerous projects throught Canada and the United States bear the McNally trademark of sound structural quality and workmanship.

Tunnel Construction

McNally is recognized as Canada's leading Tunnel Contractor. We have built tunnels for water, sewer, steam, subways, power transmission, traffic and pedestrians using various tunnelling methods.

In the 1980's, McNally Tunneling Corporation was started for operations in the United States. Based in Cleveland, OH, McNally Tunneling has completed projects in Birmingham, Cleveland, Houston, Seattle, Chicago, Minneapolis and Columbus.

In addition to completing challenging tunnel construction projects throughout the company history, McNally has also undertaken manufacturing of precast concrete segmental liners for their projects.

Marine Construction

In the 1990's, McNally expanded the scope of the business with the purchase of marine assests of several companies, including: Beaver Construction Group of Montreal; Canadian Dredge and Dock; Pitts Engineering; and MacNamara Marine. A separate division, Beaver Marine Ltd, was established in Halifax, and a McNally Construction Inc. Marine Division was created in Ontario. Under the new McNally division, these assets make up one of the best equipped and manned construction fleets anywhere in Canada capable of completing marine construction or dredging projects anywhere in the Great Lakes, St. Lawrence River or Eastern Canada.
