A design build project being completed by McNally / Aecon Joint Venture and MacViro Consultants Inc. The project includes 8625 m 2.74 m inner diameter tunnel and 6 access shafts. Three tunnel drives are being completed on the project, two for the Bathurst Sewer and one for the Langstaff Sewer. A main mining shaft is located at the mid-point of the Bathurst Sewer, from which the first of three TBMs was launched south for a 2550 m drive in January 2007. The TBM will be removed at the south limit and launched north from the main shaft for the remaining 2550 m. For the Langstaff tunnel, the TBM will be launched from the western limit for a 3525 m drive east to intersect the Bathurst tunnel.
